Check in
The first and foremost thing guests do when they set foot in a hotel is to check in. This is done at the front desk of the hotel. The front desk is generally the reception area of the hotel. All hotels have a check-in time that could be as early as 11:00am and as later as 4:00pm. Almost all hotels have their check-in time between 11:00am to 4:00pm. You are not allowed to check in before the time allotted. You could check in anytime after the appointed hour. This restriction is to make sure that the hotel staff has ample time to clean and make the room ready to be occupied. If however, you are running early and need the room earlier, you could always request the hotel to make an exception and allow you to check in earlier.
If the hotel is not busy and there are vacant rooms that have
not been occupied the day before, the hotel staff usually relents
and allows you to check in earlier. While some hotels may allow
this, others are stricter in this matter. So it is always better to
check in at the correct time or if there is no choice make sure
with the hotel that you could check in early. When you check in the
hotel staff generally makes sure that you have a reservation for
the room you are checking in and does routine ID checks. Some
hotels require you to pay in advance. Almost always you are
required to agree to the terms and conditions of staying in the
hotel. Once all the formalities of a check in are completed, the
keys or entry card to the room is handed out and you are shown to
your room. Now you could start enjoying your stay in the
hotel and look.
